Siding Over Sheathing

All of my houses have been lap siding or brick and i have always used osb sheathing then housewrap.

T1 11 is structural sheathing and it s fine to install other siding over it. The tricky part can be dealing with the added thickness where siding meets windows and doors. Faulty durability as home construction has evolved throughout the years we have seen sheathing methods change from boards to plywood to oriented strand board osb. Existing wood siding must be in good shape with no rot or mold and fastened tightly to the wall.

I am at a point of starting sheathing with zip system on a new build and would rather not install a wrb though i am concerned that using bright nails will rust and maybe eventually make its way onto the siding.
